How can umbrella insurance protect me in Canby

One very important form of insurance that all people in the Canby OR area need to have is personal liability protection. Personal liability coverage can come in a variety of forms, which can include getting it through an auto policy or home insurance policy. For some people in this area, getting an additional policy can be helpful. By getting an umbrella insurance policy here, you can be protected in several ways.

Gives Additional Protection to an Individual

One great way that this insurance can protect you is by providing you with additional insurance protection. Anyone that is looking to get insurance for liability protection will start by getting home and auto policies. However, if you want the most coverage possible, upgrading your plan to include umbrella coverage is a good idea. With this coverage, you will have additional protection that can help if there is ever a bad accident.

Gives Coverage for More Risks

A lot of people also choose to get umbrella coverage as it is more all-inclusive when it comes to providing coverage. With a home or auto policy, you can get great coverage, but it does not include protection for anything that could result in a personal liability claim. With umbrella protection, you will get the additional coverage that you need to receive support.

Those that want umbrella coverage in the Canby, OR area need to spend time carefully assessing their risks and picking a policy. Since there are plenty of complexities that come with this process, speaking with the team at Oliver Insurance could be helpful. The insurance professionals at Oliver Insurance can help anyone learn more about their insurance options. They can then help you assess your personal risks and choose a policy that mitigates liability risks as well as possible.

Tips for successful home insurance claim

Our homes make us feel safe. It is where we rest and take time to bond with our loved ones. That’s why we protect it with a home insurance policy, hoping never to make an insurance claim. However, due to unforeseen circumstances or simply bad luck, accidents happen, and we end up running to find our policy documents to see whether they will be helpful. Unfortunately, many Canby, OR residents don’t know how to file a home insurance claim.

At Oliver Insurance, we help take you through all the steps and ensure you are fully compensated in any covered claim. Here are a few tips to help out.

Act quickly

In the event of an accident like fire, your speed matters a lot. How fast you report and provide all the information required by your insurer determines how quickly your claim will be resolved. If it were a burglary, you would need to report the incident to the police and present this information to your insurer.

Don’t tamper with anything that would invalidate your claim

Making a home insurance claim is not something we are used to, which means we are unfamiliar with the process. However, like any other claim, it is essential to understand that tampering with evidence can lead to losses on your end. If there was a fire, don’t touch things until your insurer allows you to.

For larger claims, an adjuster will be sent to you

For larger claims, your insurance provider will have to take full control of the situation as there will be investigations to be conducted. Your insurer will probably need to send an insurance adjuster who will determine what will be replaced and what will be repaired.

Remember, honesty is the best policy. So, don’t exaggerate the value of your claim. Being dishonest can easily land you into trouble, and you may end up not getting any compensation at all. How Much Auto Insurance Do I Need?

The drivers of Canby, OR aren’t usually thinking about their auto insurance when they get in their vehicles. They’re thinking about whether or not they’ll make it to a destination in time and which routes they’ll take. Maybe they’re just thinking that they can’t wait to hit the open road. But as much as insurance might be the last thing on their mind, that won’t help if they realize they don’t have enough coverage down the line. Oliver Insurance wants you to know more so you can get what you need.

A Few Questions

There are a few major questions to ask yourself before selecting an amount of coverage:

  • Can you cover expenses if you opt-out of certain types of coverage? For example, if you choose liability only, this will not cover the damages of your car in the event that you cause an accident. If you need to replace your car entirely, are you prepared to do this?
  • What kind of upgrades have you made?  If you’ve outfitted the car with the latest stereo equipment or after-market parts, you’ll need to let your insurance carrier know this, otherwise, these items may not be covered should they be damaged or stolen.
  • How do you use the car? If you’re using your vehicle for business purposes in Canby, OR, you may need more coverage than someone who’s merely driving it to church once a week.

Knowing the Difference

If you have questions about the different levels of policies available to you, Oliver Insurance is here to help. We serve the people of Canby and ensure that they get the perfect amount of coverage for them. When you’re ready to discover how different types of coverage will function for you and your needs, contact us today.

Do You Need Pet Insurance?

As a pet parent, you want the best for your kit or pup. Pet insurance from Oliver Insurance can help offset the cost of veterinary care in Canby, OR, making it easier for you to get the medical services you need for your pet. Here’s how you can benefit from a pet insurance policy.

What Does Pet Insurance Cover?

Pet insurance basically comes in three types of plans: Accident-Only plans, Accident & Illness plans, and Insurance with Wellness plans. Each of these plans offers specific types of coverage.

As the name implies, accident-Only plans cover accidents, i.e. accidental poisoning, ingestion of a foreign object or car accidents, etc. Accident & Illness plans add illnesses to your coverage, to include allergies, infections, digestive problems, cancers, etc. Insurance with wellness includes coverage for accidents, illness, and preventative care services like vaccinations, parasite control, dental care, and cremation/burial services.

As pet insurance coverage and costs vary from one insurer to another, it’s important to review your policy carefully before buying to insure you’re getting the most from your investment.

Should You Purchase Pet Insurance?

As a pet owner, you need to decide if pet insurance is worth the cost. Your pet may be healthy now, but you never know what the future holds. An unexpected illness or accident could double or triple your veterinary costs, putting a massive dent in your budget. Pet insurance can be a lifesaver in helping to cover unforeseen or emergency medical costs.

As your pet ages, he may develop a chronic condition that requires regular medical treatments. Pet insurance can help you cope with the cost of these treatments. Some policies have age restrictions for coverage, however, which could affect the help you receive for your senior pet.

Can my flood insurance cover personal belongings

Flooding is the most pervasive and expensive natural disaster in America. It affects homes, business buildings, and other properties in Canby, OR and other parts of the country. Despite floods affecting your home structure and personal belongings, homeowner’s insurance does not cover any damage related to floods. At Oliver Insurance, we recommend buying separate flood insurance to cover personal belongings. So, does flood insurance protect your belongings?

Yes. Flood insurance is a separate policy that protects your home and its content from damage from water damage.

What does flood insurance cover?

If you suspect or found out that you live in a flood zone area, your first step should involve seeking coverage to protect your home and loved ones from flood damage. According to NFIP, flood insurance covers the following:

  • Water heaters and furnaces
  • Plumbing and electrical systems
  • Permanently installed carpet
  • Window blinds
  • Cooking stoves, refrigerators, and other inbuilt appliances like the dishwasher
  • Permanently installed bookcases, paneling, and cabinets
  • Detached garage
  • Well water tanks, fuel tanks, and solar energy equipment
  • Anchorage systems, foundation walls, and staircases

What is not covered by flood insurance

Like you may have already guessed, flood insurance does not cover everything in your home. It is also essential to keep in mind that the cause of flooding heavily determines whether your belongings are covered or not. Flood insurance covers losses directly caused by flooding. For instance, if you left your tap water open and allowed water to flood your home, flood insurance may not cover the damage. The falling water has to come from the sky and nowhere else. If the flooding in your home were as a result of an overflowing creek, flood insurance would only come in to help if the overflow was a direct result of flooding.
